Why our bed linen?

At Out of the Orient our bed linens are 100% Cotton or 100% Linen.

We believe that since you spend 2/3rds of your life in bed, it is vital that the fabric with which you surround yourself should be of the highest quality.

Man-made fibres, for all their ease of maintenance, do not offer a healthy option. They cause you to become hot and do not allow the body to breathe. In order to avoid overheating and to maintain a good circulation of air, natural fibres are essential.

Why natural fibres?

• Because they allow the body to breathe.
• They are absorbent.
• They are cool in summer and warm in winter.
• Occasionally they can be given a really hot wash (70 degrees) thus fulfilling the most hygienic of standards.
• They are simply more comfortable to sleep in.

Why white linen?

After a day of hard work and visual stimulus the appearance of a calm white bed gives your mind that first signal to shut down and sink into a wonderful night’s sleep.

Our great grandmothers’ generation paid far more attention to preparing the bed than ever we do. Maybe we should learn from our great-grandmothers...!
